Students Scheduling DPS Road Test in person may Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before test time.
New Online Registration requires students to arrive one hour prior to test time.
Note: There is approximately 4 to 5 week waiting period for most DPS Road Tests.
- To Use our Car for the DPS Road Test students of any age MUST show proof of one qualifying behind the wheel lesson in our School car.
- Ages 18 up to 24 must also have completed the Texas state required 6 hour driver’s ed course online through our website and have permit in hand.
- Age 16 or 17 must have completed all drivers ed requirements and have valid permit in hand and Notarized DPS form DL-40 (for can only be obtained from DPS Office)
- Complete at least one qualifying lesson behind the wheel with a SmartChoice Driver School Instructor
- Maintain lane positions and a safe speed consistently
- Accelerate and brake with control
- Control of steering turning corners
- Complete proper and safe lane changes
- Knowing when it is safe to go
